We’ve updated our www.guru-mountain.com domain and subdomain sites with a new design… this includes the distributed computing team subdomain site (dcteam.guru-mountain.com) and the test server subdomain site (test.guru-mountain.com) on that hosting provider. Some of it is still under construction, but everything is up and working correctly. We’ll be adding new content over the coming weeks.
These sites are hosted by 1and1 Web Hosting, a provider we use quite regularly and have had few problems with. Their customer service is very good, at a time when so many providers are selling out to a handful of big companies who find any form of customer service a nuisance. Most of them seem to feel that since so many of their customers are naive about how all this stuff works, it’s ok to just eliminate anything resembling meaningful, effective support.

We’ve given the Skip’s Junk website a new, faster design that’s easier to expand and maintain. The old design has been up since 2006 and was an update to the original one we did in about 2004. It hadn’t changed its look much when we last updated it. The new design looks much different and is alot more flexible. We’ve added a SITE NEWS blog and are building a couple of new features for it. We’re not going to be adding forums to this site, as Skip uses our Distributed Computing Team forums for his needs.

I’ve uploaded a new budget class website design to our public TEST SERVER called Orange Candy that is a minimalistic design adaptable for a variety of purposes. It uses tables for the layout, and CSS for visual elements. It is intended primarily for clients working with a very tight budget who want a blog and forums, but don’t require alot of additional site structure.
We designed it to be easy to modify for a variety of uses, such as a personal or family website, a small business or non-profit organization site, an open source project site or any number of things. It’s a lightweight design that isn’t overly graphical, so it has good page loading speeds even on a dialup connection. We’ve modified the default WordPress theme to match the design, and will modify or create a matching phpBB style over the next week or so.
We’ll be making the design in a few more colors with similar names in the near future, in order that folks can see what it looks like in other color schemes. Needless to say, the design lends itself well to any highlight color.
This design wasn’t made for any particular client, so it is available. Drop us a line if you’re interested, or contact us if you have any questions. In any given color scheme, we’ll limit deployment of the design to only a few implementations. The pricing structure is very reasonable, but will vary depending on the number and complexity of changes to the basic design you require.

I’ve updated this domain’s site, again… things are still in the testing phase, but I’ll get it all configured and some more content added as soon as I finish up a couple of other projects…
